Dream about the Ocean January 20, 2000

Tonight is a full eclipse of the full moon—the first of the new millennium, so it is interesting to have this dream on such a night.
It took place in a village by the ocean, but I don’t know in which country. In the village a ritual was performed to help them choose their new spiritual leader. Those that felt they met the qualifications were somehow attached to a whale. It is very difficult to explain what I saw, and I’m sure it will not quite come across, as is common with dreams.
The whale, based on its higher knowledge and awareness, chose the leader by connecting to the energy of each man touching its body. The whale had the ability to inject a poison into the body of each man who did not have the integrity to fulfill the obligations, thereby killing them. Only one could survive the test.

This was done as the whale rolled over, each man tied to its back, positioned on a vertebra of the spine. The pressure as it rolled over produced a needle that injected a paralyzing fluid into each man who would ultimately drown, caused by his inability to move while under water.
The sole survivor was not injected with the poison and would then become the spiritual leader. This man would be accepted and protected by the creatures of the ocean. A man of two worlds, able to care for both in equal measure. It was understood in order to have balance on land there must be balance in the ocean as well. This man had the ability to safeguard both, which is no small thing. The whale was able to ensure that only the one pure of heart could survive and not be challenged by those who were not so pure.
Even though the dream took place in another time and perhaps in a different world, it felt as though I was the man who survived. It was as if the man was both male and female, or perhaps I was just feeling my presence today in what I represented then. In either case, I received the gift of being allowed to play in the ocean with those who made it their home. I then woke up.

The dream felt like a fairytale, full of wonder at seeing something so perfectly in balance and absolute harmony. What would it take to achieve this today, or would it even be possible?
In some beliefs the whale is earth’s record keeper. They are associated with wisdom and rebirth, so this ritual seems to have some important symbolism.
