Dream of Flying June 22, 2000
I imagine flying must give one such a sense of freedom, an experience which cannot be duplicated in any other way. This dream gave me the ability to feel that freedom, and I was very grateful for the experience. It occurred to me this feeling should be familiar to us, this lightness of spirit.
Patrick and I were standing on the beach watching a pair of bald eagles as they did their mating dance. They talons were linked, two birds moving as one. It was beautiful to watch. The next thing I knew I was flying alongside the eagles. While I was in the dream I thought I was a person flying with them, but when I woke and thought about what had happened, I realized I had become the eagle. I called down to Patrick so he could see me flying, but he couldn’t hear me.
When I landed I saw myself picking up pieces of the bird, holding a leg in my hands as if it was a costume. Perhaps I was being shown the spirit of the eagle is also my spirit if only I could trust in that belief. Something akin to a costume that we can don when the need comes over us. The power of our thoughts, this is where true freedom lies.
This is an experience difficult to describe. The freedom, the cool breeze on my face, and the lightness of being, floating as if weightless, combined with the vision to see beyond a persons normal ability. Was I given this gift of flying with the eagle because he was my Spirit Husband? Was I briefly allowed to connect on this level because of all the information coming to me? If so, this would be meant to give me a strength I could receive no other way.
