Red Planet dream January 3, 2003
This dream reminds me of another dream I had as a young girl. It was not something I ever wrote down, but I can recall it today as if it just happened, its impact so strong. There was not much to it, but it was terrifying at the time and still affects me now as I write.
In this long ago dream I was standing on the edge of a cliff holding Duncan’s hand as we looked down into the abyss of a canyon below. It was dark and so I assume it was night, or perhaps I was in hell which was how it felt at the time.
Looking down I could see fire, but not flames so much as just the burning embers of a very hot fire, a red glow. Perhaps lava is a better description. Everything was red and orange and the destruction all around was complete. I have no idea why we were there or what we were looking at, but it was devastating and I was very afraid. That was all there was to the dream, but I remember after all these years how threatened I felt. It was a warning, at least that was how I interpreted it at the time.
On this morning I feel like I was being shown once again I still live under that same threat. In this dream I was with Duncan, only this time he was carrying me in his arms. I was about two to three years of age which was about the time I was taken from my surrogate family. We were in a very strange place that seemed to be more like another planet rather than any place here on earth. There was no vegetation and everything was very dark, but not the same as night-time darkness.
This darkness had a heaviness to it. We entered a structure of some kind with stone walls. I remember seeing patches of red, but did not know what that was. I was very uncomfortable in this place and was quite afraid. As it turned out I had very good reason to be scared. When my eyes adjusted, I could see slug-like creatures of various size on the walls, some being as long as a mans arm from the elbow to the shoulder. I was so frightened and clung to this man, terrified of what else I might see.
I saw him grab two very small creatures and place them on my shoulder and I began to panic. I could feel them burrow under my skin and move to the back of my head. I was completely freaked out and started screaming at him to get them out, but he just held me closer so I could not move, and smiled, then he laughed at me.
This is all that I remember, but it seemed so real when I woke up, especially when I touched the lump that is on my neck right now.
Note— It is important to explain for the second time I experiencing the unusual cleansing coming from my skull. Rather than go to a doctor I treated the swelling with herb poultices, but it was very painful and actually quite a scary time because I didn’t understand what was happening. I did indeed have a rather large lump at the base of my skull which was seeping a heavy, pale yellow sticky fluid.*
The entire back of my head was swollen causing pain whenever it was touched, making it very difficult to lay down. My hair was caked with the sticky fluid. It took several days for whatever was coming out of my head to end, finally bringing me relief, the whole process lasting about a week. To this day I do not understand why this happened or what caused it, but there were no adverse aftereffects from the experience.
So to have this dream about the slugs seemed suddenly quite realistic and very possible, especially since the environment of the place was so much like the dream I had as a child.
