Dream with a Gift August 27, 2008
Although I did not at first realize it, this dream carried a gift of great importance. I did not want to write it down at first, but decided to do so because it was different from most of my dreams….I’m glad I did.
The dream took place somewhere I was not familiar with. There was a man with a big skin drum and he had with him a woman who was shackled in some kind of strange leg iron. They were unable to remove it and she was in pain, very uncomfortable. I don’t know who these people were, they didn’t seem special in any way, but the leg iron did not make sense. I believe they were native, but whether that was important I’m not sure. How we ended up in the same place was also not clear.
We seemed to be in a lobby, but the place was nondescript, so I cannot place it. Perhaps these details were not that important, but we were there together for some reason. While the man played the drum, I began to talk to the woman and asked if there was some way I could help. I went over to her, looking at the leg iron which covered her calf up to her knee, very strange. I was very gentle in my approach, touching her leg and gently turning it to see if I could find the clasp that would undo it. I’m really not sure how I did it but whatever it was allowed me to open and remove it. Her relief was obvious which made me feel better also. It was hard to see her in such a state of discomfort.
I was turning to go when a native elder came to me, approaching me from chairs against the wall. I had not noticed her before this moment and wondered when she had arrived. She came up to me, took me by the hands and said her thanks for what I had just done. She then told me I would be receiving a gift before the month was over. She said that I may not realize the value of this gift right away, but it was indeed a gift of great importance.* That was all I remembered, so I don’t know if I woke up or just fell into another dream.
What I remembered most about this dream was the feeling I had when the catch released and I could feel her relief.
