The beauty of art is everywhere, sometimes in the least likely of places. Walking to one of the markets on Friday, we happened along these two men working at finishing  a mural on the side of the building at the end of the street leading to the market.

They were using spray paint which always amazes me. That they can get such good detail, even though their space is so big, still impresses me. I know logically it is a skill like any that would improve over time, but still it is impressive. The way they blended colours was also interesting as they would take the nozzles off the cans and hold one spray can on the opening of the other essentially pouring one colour into another to get the right shade. As one who has mixed my inks over the years to get the right colour when drawing my animals, I can well appreciate that this in itself is a unique skill.

Today when we went for our walk to the market, this is what we found. I assume it is not quite finished because the scaffolding was still there, although I could not see what was left to finish personally.

It took my breath away, I just found her so beautiful! I was surprised at how much work they had done over the last day and a half, assuming they worked on Saturday as well. Sometimes images like this only look good at a distance, but this looked beautiful very close up, truly remarkable to me.

On the other side of the road was this roadside billboard  secured on the ground with this amazing painting on it.    Seeing it in person, fairly close up was great. Not only the detail but the significance of the content of the image. Very beautiful, just like the people here. You can just feel the love they have for their culture, happy to share it with the world. There is so much meaning in this particular image, and were there not so much traffic going by continuously, I would have been happy to sit on a bench admiring it for quite some time. I only wish I had the skill myself.
