I think we all have a tickle trunk or maybe just a tickle drawer, a place where we keep little treasures which we know we may never use. But there is always the possibility of these odds and sods being made into something wonderful.
I brought a big selection of beads, and all that goes with them, plus my art supplies, although I gave or sold much of what I had before I left. I have also acquired some things since arriving, things I probably sold before leaving, but space was limited. Also you just get ideas when you’re a creative person and whether it works out or not, you just want to give it a go, which means the purchase of “stuff”.
So besides my suitcases I had 3 trunks brought here before I arrived with these precious items. There are still 3 trunks at Patrick’s brothers in Canada with things I wasn’t ready to part with. All my worldly possessions contained in now 5 trunks, a backpack and two suitcases. My goal is to empty the 2 trunks here, so travelling will be easier. For the most part I could get all that I wanted to keep in my suitcases at this point.
I left a good amount of beading items in Agato, amalgamating what was left into 2 trunks, giving one more for Patrick who seemed to be accumulating more stuff than he had room for. In my tickle trunk are some things I made which I thought might interest someone here, inspiring them to also make – sort of a fresh idea, something which always gets me going. But before I had the idea to show them, I started sharing things bought here to assist them in their project this one day.

These items made their job easier and also the foam made the flowers waterproof. The waterproof part was pretty important given the nature of the project which was hummingbird feeders.

I know I would have enjoyed making one myself, many ideas were floating around in my head, ways to improve on their idea. I know for sure I would have removed the pop labels and maybe added fabric or paint to dress it up. But they did a great job I thought. A hummingbird came to the biggest feeder right after it was hung up, so it is a workable idea. Unfortunately there was no sugar water in them at the time.
It was nice to see my tools helping them improve on their idea, a collaboration….. My tickle trunk has been very useful, providing crayons, paper, colouring pages and beads. I think it is a source of wonder as the kids see things come out of there. Things perhaps that they have only had limited access or maybe no access to. I am not sure what they have provided for them in the schools, but at home, I doubt many children would have much in the way of such luxuries. It’s fun to share and watch them explore their new ideas. Judging by the generous display of crafts and painted murals most everywhere, there is a wealth of talent and sometimes they just need a little help getting started.
**Please remember if you are providing feeders for the hummingbirds in your world, do not use red food colouring as it destroys their tiny little livers. Sort of a new understanding of killing with kindness. 😀🦜
