Heading in one direction while surfing the web, I stumbled upon this….

How to bring joy to those who are suffering ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I was in a bit of downer this morning, not really sure why, it was just like that. I decided to walk into town, get some snacks and a change of scenery, you know, just step out of my daily routine to step out of my mood. It is such a beautiful summer day, but it was pretty warm walking up the mountain I have to say. I was listening to music as I walked, something I always enjoy and a song by Vanessa May came on – “Bach Street Prelude”.

The scenery is beautiful, the music fantastic, so thought I’d share this one too. I love this song when I’m running, it’s great incentive…..and if I just focus on the music, I don’t notice my lungs bursting! It also makes me think of my boss who said she wanted to learn how to play the violin 😎

So this song was, as it always is a great pick me up, putting a bounce in my step as I made my way home. I realized how much better I felt for the walk, the music, the change of scenery, making me understand just how important it is to get out of your own way.

So back to the first video…..an amazing find for me, instant joy as I watched the fabulous, magical power of music, and what a great way to share it!! I was full of joy as I watched the musicians, every age, dressed casual, different nationalities, all playing for the love of it, the excitement building as I thought about the impact. There were several different videos, different cities, different people and different types of music, I found it so uplifting, the need to share strong.

There was one on the street in a place called Namur en Mai- Imep – Traviata, where the music was quite repetitive as all the musicians made there way out and I was about to give up on it, when the conductor arrived and wow!!! Was I ever glad I did not give up on it because these young kids came out of the crowd gathered to sing opera – absolutely amazing, truly. They looked like they were about 16 years old, but their voices said different. What a treat to find these positive little intrusions in the everyday lives of ordinary people who maybe have never had the pleasure of attending the symphony.

I leave you with this one because it starts with the conductor seeming to make a fool of himself, being told he cannot “do this here”. The security guard is defeated however as the musicians take over the space and play such a beautiful piece of music. It brings me back to my childhood, those wonderful experiences at the Calgary Philharmonic, one of the beautiful memories I have in a very troubled life. While I was often scolded for not sitting still as I listened to the music, this is no longer an issue as I sit here allowing my body to sway happily to the music. Even back then, I could not help myself, my fingers and toes just had to move!!!

So I hope your step is a little lighter at the end of your day, and may there be a small grin on your face and a bit of joy in your heart for seeing these videos. And may you also find pleasure in sharing them, because happiness should be.

*** PS – I thought I was finished, but then I went back to watch more and realized this one had to be included because of the excellent audience participation. For orchestra and audience alike, there is for a few moments at least, harmony, peace and an untroubled mind as they intimately share this experience. When I was young, I would have absolutely loved being part of such an interactive excursion to the symphony – I would have stayed all day…….
