I guess if you are going to take the sock, you may as well take the shoe too – right??? Video capturing the sock thief will be posted on facebook later.

   He didn’t realize I was on to him……           then it was a “It wasn’t me – I didn’t do it” moment……

Then he couldn’t help himself, he had to come back for my shoe. What a kook!!!

Life on the farm….. the other day when it was raining pretty good, a nice steady gentle rain (no wind) we found the chickens all huddled under the eaves trying to stay dry. It was just one of those moments that seem so cute and worth stopping to watch for a minute.

They were just hangin’ talking quietly among themselves, waiting for the rain to stop. It was a Beatrix Potter story in the making…..

These chickens have great character, not afraid to come up close to say hello either. Of course that may have something to do with Patrick feeding them bread crumbs, but I think over all they enjoy the company. The big rooster has an equally big sound and likes to display his greatness at close range…….and often. There are times when I have to plug my ears, it’s pretty loud!!

He keeps a pretty close eye on his hens – the rooster in the background (which is beautiful) has made many attempts to move in on the action. Then the race is one as they run around the building squawking as they go. You gotta give him “E” for effort even though he never wins!!

Little Scott seems to not realize he is “little”. There is the chicken that hangs around with the dogs near the kitchen that seems to be scott’s “Amigo”, but like all good friends, they have their fights – usually over the dirt bed they seem to both like. Scott yipes and barks at the chicken if he is in his spot, while the chicken just lays there totally unaffected by the pestering noises. If Scott gets the bed first however the chicken tends to reach in and peck at Scott until he gets mad and chases her away. It’s pretty comical :).

I am not a chicken, I am just like you…..Mali looks unconvinced :).

I will have to try for a picture, it’s usually at meal time, so I am distracted and forget my phone doubles as a camera.

There is not much to report these days, just a quiet time for reflection. Mali and I went for a run the other day, my first one since arriving here. The road is a bit rough, but it’s quiet, kind of reminding me of when I ran in the Hills. I am definitely not in shape, so have to make an effort to keep it up. The first day always feels so good, then you crash for awhile. So on that note I think I will get dressed for a run and get myself out the door before I change my mind.

I hope all is well up North and that winter is being kind to everyone.

Did you know that if it is going to rain for a short while, chickens will take cover. If it’s going to rain all day, they will stay out. “What the heck. Gonna rain all day, may as well get wet”. Hahaha

Haha, that’s fantastic, I did not know that (being raised a city slicker:) ). Well it’s true because it did not rain for long that day, pretty much ended by the time we walked to town.
It rained yesterday too and so I’ll put up a couple more pictures of the ones that hid by my door. Not sure where the rest of them were, maybe on the other side of the building. It rained for much longer, so they did not stay under the roof for long, must have decided to just get wet!!!
